Ask me anything

Dear Mr. Wilde,

I know I want to learn French but I’m not even five pages into the introduction to the centenary edition of your complete works and am having to look up phrases. This book is in English, why don’t the give translations or definitions in parenthesis or in a footnote or something?

Fin De Siècle: Used to describe something that is thought to be typical of the end of the nineteenth century, especially when it is considered stylish or exaggerated.

J’ai mis tout mon génie dans ma vie, je n’ai mis que mon talent dans mes oeuvres:  I put all my genius into my life; I put only my talent into my works.

Yep, not even five pages of the INTRODUCTION.
